Morpeth Harriers are pleased to announce their decisions on their Linden Homes Athletes of the Month for August and September 2015.
The August award has gone to Under 17 Male athlete David Thomas, who produced a lifetime best of 12.02m to take an excellent Bronze medal in the Triple Jump at the Northern Athletics Under 13, Under 15, and Under 17 Track and Field Championships at Middlesbrough.
At the same venue, and against more Senior rivals, he finished an excellent second in the Triple Jump with a best of 11.77m, and third in the Long Jump with 5.59m, in the fourth and final Northern League Division 2 match.
He certainly crowned the month of August well when he won a Gold medal in the Triple Jump with a best of 11.52m at the annual Tartan Games meeting, held at Gateshead International Stadium.
Unfortunately Thomas has not yet been available to be presented with his certificate.
The September award also went to an Under 17 Male athlete. In a very close tight decision against two other athletes, the award eventually went in favour of Kieran Hedley, who produced an outstanding polished run to win his age group event at the first Start Fitness North Eastern Harrier League Meeting at Tanfield.
Hedley had also produced an excellent run to finish second in the Under 17 Men’s event at the Sunderland Cross Country earlier in the month.
He had also been very instrumental in helping his club to an excellent seventh place in the Under 17 Men’s event at the Northern Athletics Road Relays at Blackpool, by clocking the third fastest time of his individual leg.
Hedley is pictured above receiving his Linden Homes Certificate of Achievement from Morpeth Harriers Press Officer George Patterson.
