The clubs Senior Men contested the 6 Stage event, held over a distance of 5.88k,
and their Under 17 Men lined up in one of the 3 x 3.88k events.
In the latter event, Morpeth Harriers competed well against the cream of the country to finish eighth
behind Southern Club Shaftesbury Barnet, who managed a total winning finishing time of 35m52s.
Although Morpeth were never quite on level terms with the leading protagonists,
they were always prominent, especially in the later stages,
posting a total finishing time of 37m33s,
which was only around eighty seconds adrift of minor medals.
On second leg, Taylor Glover climbed a couple of places, posting a time of 12m44s.
It was left to Kieran Hedley to make the very most of a glory final leg,
and this he did handsomely, by climbing an excellent five places to a final placing of eighth,
with a most impressive seventh fastest time of the leg of 12m23s.
Finishing eighth also saw Morpeth’s Under 17 Men emerge
as third Northern club, behind Vale Royal, and City of Sheffield.
were a little disappointed not to place higher.
posting 17m38s, with further performances coming from Sam Hancox (18m44s),
Nick Swinburn (17m46s), Carl Avery (17m55s), Peter Newton (17m58s),
and Ian Hudspith (18m06s), which in turn saw them to a final placing of tenth in 1hr48m07s,
behind winners Cardiff., who just outsprinted their Welsh rivals
Swansea by three seconds, posting a finishing time of 1hr45m52s.
