The 60th running of the annual Chevy Chase Fell Race,
held in the Cheviots above Wooler in Northumberland
on Saturday 2nd July 2016,
saw a win for Morpeth Harrier John Butters.
Butters, running in the colours of his second claim club Northumberland Fell Runners
won the long distance event in a time of 3hrs03mins 46secs,
winning by just under five minutes from Norham’s Andrew Brown,
with Tattenhall Runner Peter Taylor taking third place, a further minute adrift.
In winning, Butters also scooped the first Male Veteran award, ahead of Taylor.
Next Morpeth Harriers finisher was Steve Haswell,
who finished 25th in 3hrs38m42s,
who was tenth Over 40 Male Veteran.
