Hudspith crossed the finish line at Monkseaton High School, posting a finishing time of 31m29s, showing that despite the advancing years that he is still very much a force to be reckoned with.
Tyne Bridge’s James Dunce found that was to be at his ultimate cost, as he finished seven seconds
down on the former International, with another Tyne Bridge Harrier Tom Charlton finishing third in 31m43s.
Posting a time of 32m29s, Morpeth’s Ian Harding finished in fourth place, which with each club
now having two Men home, and with points of five each, an interesting team race had developed.
With four to count it was an open team race, however it was Tyne Bridge who clearly won it,
with their third and fourth counters coming home in fifth and sixth places,
which gave them a grand total of sixteen points.
Morpeth Harriers eventually emerged in second team place, with a total of 39 points,
courtesy of further supporting runs from Lee Bennett (14th) 34m57s,
and Matthew Boyle (20th) 35m50s.
Bennett was also third Over 45 Veteran Man.
Another Morpeth Harrier who faced the starter in the 355 strong field
of finishers was Paul Bell, who finished 85th in 40m51s.
